LoFi is applied to a variety of different effects, but they do different things and sound VERY different. Oto Biscuit (sort of the Rolls Royce of bit crushing).Mid-Fi Random Vibrato - a great, wobbly always on pedalīitcrush (Nintendo) = sample rate reducer.Mid-Fi Pitch Pirate (deluxe also has delay).Modulation (warbled tape / PortaStudio with a lot less hiss) = I am missing a few from the last 1.5 years. I also like the Generation Loss and some of the Caroline pedals, but those have a more high fidelity sheen. It genuinely sounds like tape to me and stacks up nicely on multiple tracks. I believe this is the one that launched the lofi thing, and it is still the best to my ears. My favorite is the ZVex Instant Lofi Junky Vexter. But I don't have a pedal that catapults me into new worlds. The results obtained are good for obtaining airy/wet music. Infinite Jets circulates very small samples of the input signal and voices them to create sustaining pads underneath your playing, while Microcosm is more focused around rephrasing your playing (taking many samples, creating microloops, sequencing recorded audio etc.) and recording complex arrangements. They share some similarities (hold sampler, glitch & drone effects) but have their own sonic character and features. Keeping in mind I would like to avoid buying a pedal that has delay-reverb-phaser among its functions, since I already have them, my first question: what's the best pedal you can think of to make Lo-Fi music? But I don't have a pedal that catapults me into new worlds with unpredictable sounds. I have tried to play something similar to the Blade Runner's soundtracks with my actual gear: Meris Mercury7 reverb, Walrus Lillian phaser and Strymon ElCapistan delay.
